He studied hundreds of music videos before he wrote his book and came up with some key codes and conventions...
Andrew Goodwin identifies 5 key aspects which define music videos:
- Thought Beats -Seeing the Sound (If a film is about a certain place it may be filmed in that place, everything in the video becomes the essence of he song)
- Narrative and Performance
- The Star Image (Promoting the image of the star)
- Relation of Visuals to Song (seeing exactly what the performer is singing about)
- Technical Aspects of Music Video
